Kennedy newsletter
This is a newsletter for Democratic Senator Edward M. Kennedy, c. 1961
The newsletter begins:
This is the first issue of a newsletter intended for everyone working for the re-election of Edward M. Kennedy to the United States Senate. It's purpose is twofold:
- to keep you fulling informed about the Senator's legislative activities and his stands on the major issues;
- To supply you with the latest information about the campaign
Since this newsletter is for you, it is our hope that you will take part in its preparation by contributing ideas, suggestions, and news of activities in your ares in order to make it more informative and productive. Send any information you think will be of interest to the Press Office in the Boston Headquarters.
The header is pre-printed lithography. Union printed (see union “bug” at bottom front)
The typesetting is strike-on, maybe an IBM Executive or Selectric. My current guess is IBM Prestige Elite.
Subheads are likely set with dry transfer type (guessing Helvetica Light). They are exellently set at a very tight letterspacing—very fashionable at the time, which feels relavant, considering this is a political campaign and not a space that would normally have cared about such things as cutting edge typography.
This could be for his first re-election campaign (1962) or second 1970).
